10) Heathcote

This sketch by a local artist shows the memorial brass which is now fixed to the north wall of the sanctuary. William Heathcote was Rector from 1560 to 1594 and married Dorothy Vernon to John Manners in 1565. The brass includes a Latin inscription which refers to Heathcote's early life in his native Derbyshire.
