Information and Times of Services and other Events

Our aim is to involve the whole people of God and so the congregation plays a full part in the presentation of worship. Newcomers are made welcome, but given space to appreciate the Service in their own way.

The Sunday Club (children aged 4-10 years) meets at the same time as the Parish Sunday service so that parents and children can enjoy alike. Visiting children are also welcome.

Services are conducted according to the worship of the Church of England. Further information regarding the wider church and service formats can be accessed from our Links page.

On most Sundays, the choice of Service is simple:

8.00am  Holy Communion, in modern language and without singing - lasts about 30 minutes.

10.15am  Parish Eucharist, in modern language and with singing and Sermon - lasts about 60 minutes, and followed by tea/coffee and social time.

On the first Sunday of the month there is a family service in the 10:15am slot which alternates between a short communion and an informal service of readings, prayers, music and drama. This service involves young people and families are very welcome.

There are some exceptions to this pattern and current information can be found on our events page, along with detail of our social events.

Baptisms and Marriages

St. Andrew's is a popular church for Baptisms and Marriages.  Its historic atmosphere is a reminder of the long traditions that lie behind Christian faith in this country.  Both ceremonies are conducted according to the worship of the Church of England.

Services of Blessing following a civil ceremony can also be discussed with the clergy.

Further detail on Baptisms (Christenings) and Marriages at St Andrew's can be found on our groups and activities page.
