The Ministry Team

Revd Dave Appleby (Rector)

"I was born and brought up in the north east, and lived for the last 19 years in Middlesbrough before coming to St Andrew's as Rector in June 2008. In church, I relish preaching, love to celebrate at the Eucharist, and wish to see more people discovering their own gifts and skills. For my time off (?!) I enjoy reading, cycling and being in the country or, especially, by the sea, which I don't get a lot of in the middle of the country. I am married to Jennie who is also a priest in the Church of England, and have a daughter at university".

Brenda, Mike and Pat (Reader-Ministers)

The Ministry Team at St Andrew's actively conduct and coordinate Sunday services, Baptism, Marriage, and Funeral Services. In addition to this they carry out pastoral visiting and other ministry work in the parish, and the wider diocese.

Information and Times of Services and other Events

Our aim is to involve the whole people of God and so the congregation plays a full part in the presentation of worship. Newcomers are made welcome, but given space to appreciate the Service in their own way.

The Sunday Club (children aged 4-10 years) meets at the same time as the Parish Sunday service so that parents and children can enjoy alike. Visiting children are also welcome.

Services are conducted according to the worship of the Church of England. Further information regarding the wider church and service formats can be accessed from our Links page.

On most Sundays, the choice of Service is simple:

8.00am  Holy Communion, in modern language and without singing - lasts about 30 minutes.

10.15am  Parish Eucharist, in modern language and with singing and Sermon - lasts about 60 minutes, and followed by optional tea/coffee and social time.

There are some exceptions to this pattern and current information can be found on our events page, along with detail of our social events.

Baptisms and Marriages
St. Andrew's is a popular church for Baptisms and Marriages.  Its historic atmosphere is a reminder of the long traditions that lie behind Christian faith in this country.  Both ceremonies are conducted according to the worship of the Church of England.

Services of Blessing following a civil ceremony can also be discussed with the clergy.
Further detail on Baptisms (Christenings) and Marriages at St Andrew's can be found on our groups and activities page.
